For me, Banktivity has a much cleaner interface and more intuitive reports. I also switched from Quicken for Mac to the latest Banktivity 8 and am very happy I have. Also, I have had to use the help ticket function a few times over the years and they are very responsive. It's to go back to individual transactions to investigate/validate the categories at annual budget or tax time. I don't use it for investments, but I like the budgeting. Banktivity will also export files nicely that can be ingested by TurboTax (which is my workflow). I don't use the budget functionality and can't speak to that. I am very happy with it - does imports, stock basis tracking, etc. I've been on Banktivity for years since Quicken decided to hobble/not upgrade the features on the Mac. I've used PV but wasn't aware that it could be used for portfolio tracking/transactions/etc.unless I'm missing something. Just to elaborate, the app would track transactions/IRR/etc. I think you need a specialized tool like this: (All of our investments are at Schwab, which has terrible asset allocation tracking, IMHO.) I was under the impression Quicken had something like this but it sounds like it doesn't.ĭoes something like this exist in a comprehensive unobtrusive (not Personal Capital) package? What I mean is that I'd hope that an app like Quicken or one of its others would track a user specified asset allocation and indicate when rebalancing is required. Banktivity isn't any better in this area AFAIK but I haven't used the most recent version. Quicken for Mac doesn't really offer anything beyond investment tracking it'll tell you how much you have in stocks & bonds but it won't help you rebalance your assets.
